8 Years Ago This Month…Looking Back

Front Porch SwingIt’s so much fun to look back at old issues of The Front Porch and see how much has changed AND how much has remained the same! Every month we’ll resurrect an old issue and laugh and cry as we “Remember When.”

As a teaser, here’s a hint at what was happening eight years ago in April: we honored Susan Card as Daufuskie Island’s Good Neighbor,we captured a photo of Edgar Douglas in his 16th year leading Hilton Head’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade, we celebrated the arrival of Spring by honoring Daufuskie Island’s children, we announced plans to put the Community Library in the Little White School House (it has since been moved to the Jane Hamilton School), Lancy Burn had just published his new book, the newly appointed CP Committee was getting underway, and the women of the island formed a Ladies Auxiliary Group and met at the Fire House (this was the forerunner to Women of Daufuskie Island WODI).

Take a look and see what else was happening! Click here to open The Front Porch, Issue 3, 2005.
