Endangered Wood Storks Nesting at Melrose

On their recent annual aerial survey of Daufuskie, the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) noted that wood storks, a Federally Endangered Species, are nesting at the rookery at Melrose on the Beach. We had heard that wood storks nest on ponds on several golf courses. That’s a free added attraction for golfers. Take a look at these great photos my husband, David, snapped on the 10th Fairway at the Melrose Golf Club. We counted 32 birds!
